What should an overseas buyer ask before procuring electric tricycles?
Define the application before comparing models
Start with the intended users, passenger or recreational application, operating environment, storage constraints and destination market. The catalogue separates electric tricycle, recreational tricycle and electric passenger tricycle categories. Those labels are useful navigation aids, but suitability for a particular route, load, user group or regulation must be reviewed against a confirmed specification and the buyer's own market requirements.
Ask for dimensions and component details by model
Catalogue detail is not uniform across every tricycle. ET-301 through ET-306 are photo-led references whose missing specifications must be requested. PET-501 through PET-508 include model-specific dimensions and selected motor, controller, braking, wheel and suspension information. Buyers should compare only fields actually supplied for the selected model and ask for any missing battery, weight, capacity, charging, packing or performance information in writing.
Confirm battery transport and destination obligations
If the selected configuration includes a lithium battery, ask which cell and battery type is proposed, how it will be packed or installed for transport, and which test summary and shipping documents apply. UNECE's Manual of Tests and Criteria includes subsection 38.3 for lithium cells and batteries. Destination-market battery duties can also change over time; for the European Union, Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 introduces staged labelling, QR-code and battery-passport obligations for relevant battery categories.
Put acceptance and delivery questions into the enquiry
A useful request states the model, quantity, destination, application, required configuration, critical dimensions, braking and wheel expectations, labelling, documentation, packing and inspection needs. Ask how deviations will be approved and which records will accompany the order.
